Why I’m excited about Tam Lin
With 6 weeks to go before the Tam Lin event, I am really starting to get excited about the possibilities. Most of the team jumped onto a Skype call the other day to talk about some of the directions we could go with the story and the arc of the weekend, and I have to say – I think we’re going to have a lot of fun together. Allow me to geek out at you with some of what has me so intrigued:
1. The retreat center we’re using looks really great. It will be a new location for us, and while there’s always a little anxiety around that for me, my gut tells me the Hollis Center is going to be a good fit. The meeting space itself should offer us plenty of room, but more exciting for me is that the center also has more than 4 miles of hiking trails, a couple and a labyrinth available. I don’t want to make any promises about what we’re going to do, because Midwest weather is a challenging thing even in the Spring, but we’re really hoping to offer an outdoor ritual for this event! I’ll be honest, that alone is enough to pique my excitement.
2. We already have a wonderful group of folks signed up for the event. If you’ve attended an Expanding Inward event already, you’ll find some familiar, friendly faces at this one. If you HAVEN’T attended one of our events before, I can say that this would be a great one to try out, because there will be a lovely and welcoming group working alongside you. Looking at it from a more selfish standpoint, I’m personally excited to have so many awesome people to learn from.
3. Finally, the work of the event itself promises to be really interesting. One thing I love about Tam Lin is that it’s such an elemental story. As such, it’s full of opportunities to explore those elements, the magic that surrounds us every day, as well as the magic of the practitioner. How does my personal magic interact with the larger world? Perhaps even more intriguing, to me: How does my personal work prepare me to bring my dreams to light and to life? What tools might I explore or create to help me do that? How great would it be to spend a couple of days exploring these questions with a like-minded community?
So there you have it. I’m excited about the place, the people, and the work. I am utterly geeked about the event, and I really hope you’ll consider joining us. If you have questions, you can contact us and between the EI team and our phenomenal organizer Robin, we’ll do our best to get you the information you need.
