A new tool

I feel like I have been walking around in a constant state of energetic agitation for a long time now. Even though I have a regular sitting practice and for the most part stay pretty grounded, I’m aware it is taking more of my energy to maintain. To that end I am always open to new tools to assist me.

Hekate has given me one, a way to use her lantern of illumination, if I am willing. She gave me these words and I’ve been using them a lot – Raise the lantern. Look closer. Look further. It’s a litany really and I am finding it very useful. It can go something like this.

I love my work.
Raise the lantern. Look closer. Look further.

My family relationships are solid.
Raise the lantern. Look closer. Look further.

I have made my wounds sacred.
Raise the lantern. Look closer. Look further.

I have so much more to learn about what it means to live as a marginalized person in this county.
Raise the lantern. Look closer. Look further.

I didn’t know there was a name for what a doctor did to me. The husband’s stitch. I thought it just happened to me. I didn’t ask questions. I didn’t understand. Now I’m beginning to. It makes me want to scream.
Raise the lantern. Look closer. Look further.

The sound of the rustling leaves is balm for my soul.
Raise the lantern. Look closer. Look further.

One look at my granddaughter can make any moment a delight.
Raise the lantern. Look closer. Look further.

We are going to self-destruct.
Raise the lantern. Look closer. Look further.

There is another way.
Raise the lantern. Look closer. Look further.

I’m trying to use them routinely after a feeling or thought. What comes up surprises me. I like using them with things that bring me joy as well as things that don’t. There have been insights with both. This has been really helpful for me. If there is something that is helping you to navigate your life, I’d love to hear about it.
