On the subject of Who, What and Why

Greetings, welcome, and all of those excellent things! This is the inaugural post in the Expanding Inward blog, soon to be followed by introductions and welcomes from the rest of the team. I get to go first, I think, because I have the administrative login for our site. It’s as good a reason as any, I suppose.

There’s quite a bit to look at around here, but I’d like to offer a quick overview of what you’ll find in case it’s not laid out as intuitively as I had hoped.

What we do: If you’re interested in what, exactly, we do, take a look at the Methods page. There you’ll find an overview of Ecstatic Ritual, Storytelling, and more.

What’s coming next: For a list of upcoming intensives, the Upcoming Events page is your destination. We have a couple of good ones coming up, and you can also find information about our past events here.

Who we are: For more information about us, the Team page houses bios for all five of us and some of the history of Diana’s Grove Mystery School, our common background.

A bonus cool thing: If you’re a nerd for chants and music, check out the Chants section. We have more than 30 different chants there, each with lyrics and audio files. Many of the chants hosted here were written by River or Lucinda.

There’s more, certainly, so please dig around and contact us with any questions or comments.

So that covers a bit of the “What” for the site. Another question that comes to mind at the beginning of things, I think, is, “Why?” Or, more specifically, “Why am I here?”

I’m here because this work, this service, is like that deep head-clearing, soul-cleansing breath at the end of a hard day’s travel. I’m here because doing what we do is hard, and satisfying, and beautiful. But it’s not beautiful in and of itself. It’s beautiful because of people. It’s beautiful because of community. It’s beautiful because of each person who has walked into one of our events and said that they were game to share of themselves, to take a risk that might be intensely uncomfortable, and to trust everyone there to experience and honor the journey right along with them.

In short, I’m here because of you. We’re going to do some amazing things together. I hope you’ll join us, because we can’t do it without you.
